Beyond the Classroom
The best student life is a harmonious blend of academic excellence, personal growth, and memorable experiences
Student Life
Our commitment to building connections outside the classroom is rooted in the understanding that real-world experiences contribute significantly to a child's growth. We believe that fostering connections outside traditional academic settings is paramount to your child's natural development, contributing not only to academic success but also to the cultivation of self-confidence and social skills.
INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL
This festival is a hallmark event at Cedarwood School, and it wouldn’t be possible without the love and dedication of our families. We are so proud of our diverse and vibrant Cedarwood community.
- International Festival: sharing stories, traditions, and cultures around the world. The memories created, the delicious food enjoyed, and the traditions celebrated truly bring our community together in a meaningful way.
I just wanted to take a moment to share how much it meant to our entire family—especially to Ziva—to see the Israeli flag represented at International Night.
In a year when we’ve had to encourage her to be quiet about her background out of fear, due to the rise in antisemitism, it was incredibly meaningful for her to see her school proudly displaying the Israeli flag. It reassured her that she belongs, that her identity is valued, and that she doesn’t have to hide who she is.
Our family's history is deeply tied to both Judaism and Israel. My grandmother escaped from Poland during the Holocaust, but we lost many family members. My great-grandfather was killed in a pogrom, and his town, Iwaniska, was burned to the ground. On the other side of my family, my grandfather’s ancestors lived in Israel for over 300 years—a history we still find remarkable.
To see that heritage acknowledged at school meant the world to us. This week, Ziva felt safe enough to share not only that she is Jewish but also that her mother’s side of the family is Israeli. Thank you for giving her that opportunity and for creating an environment where she can feel seen and proud of who she is.
With gratitude,
Gabrielle Smith, Ziva's mom
