Cedarwood School is proud to announce Becky Chapron as our Preschool Teacher Spotlight and Nicole Thibaut as our Teacher Assistant Spotlight for March 2016!

Becky Chapron is from New Orleans, LA and lives in Mandeville, LA. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University and a Child Development Associate Certificate from the state of LA. This year will be her 10th year teaching preschool. Becky held the position of lead teacher of three year olds in Flower Mound, Texas before moving to Mandeville where she continued to teach three and four year olds.

She was introduced to Cedarwood School by her dear friend, Erin Brady. Her daughter, Haley, also attended Cedarwood Elementary School and during this time she learned about the amazing opportunities the school offers to students, parents, faculty, and the community.

“I have made amazing friends, directed KALEIDOSCOPE summer camp, and
participated in community outreach. I am proud to say that I am a teacher at Cedarwood School as of August 2012. There is no other place I would rather be.”

Becky believes that children learn through experiences. She is dedicated to developmentally appropriate teaching practices, which not only teach fundamentals, but encourage social and emotional growth. Her goal is to encourage independence, self-worth and excellence in everything her students do. She is inspired daily by her co-workers and their love for educating children, but is also so thankful for the support and appreciation of Cedarwood parents.

One thing she would like the community and future Cedarwood parents to know is that “Cedarwood is a treasure that will exceed your expectations! We are dedicated to educating the whole child and we value and appreciate our families. Children are important and we celebrate their love for learning each and every day.”

Becky is also a dedicated wife to her husband, Tony, and mother of two children, Haley and Parker

Nichole Thibaut lives in Mandeville, LA. She has been working with preschool children for three years. This year will be her 2nd year teaching preschool at Cedarwood.

Growing up in Mandeville since the late 80s early 90s, Nichole was very familiar with the schools in the area and knew about Cedarwood for a while. In 2014, she sent her children to CAMP KALEIDOSCOPE which is still the theme based summer camp offered at Cedarwood’s preschool for ages 2 – 6. While there she inquired about a teaching position after seeing the sense of community that Cedarwood develops and encourages their employees to develop with families and coworkers.

“The teachers at Cedarwood truly love each and every child. In the preschool and elementary school alike, teachers know every child that walks through the doors. Such love and care go into each day to ensure that each child knows that they are loved and can achieve anything.”

Nichole believes in teaching the whole child by fundamentally reaching each child on their level whether emotional, social, and/or academically. She strives for her students to reach these goals through purposeful play and lots of love. Her goal as a teacher is by year end each child is working independently, feeling confident, and having a deeper love of school.

Nichole is a mother to three beautiful and bright daughters. Eloise is 9, Charlotte is 7 and Collins is 4 years old. She says she is also blessed to have her parents and sister living close by.
